Teacher Training Institutes
In partnership with the MENC: The National Association for Music Education, IAJE sponsors an annual series of teacher training institutes to meet the needs of vocal, instrumental and general music teachers.
Artist Outreach Network
This online listing service and grants program helps artists who are on tour connect with students and schools. More than 500 artists and schools are now registered on the network.
Commissioning Programs
The Gil Evans Commission. Established by a grant from the Herb Alpert Foundation, this annual commission identifies an emerging composer through a competitive application process. The composer receives a $2,500 commission to compose a work for large jazz ensemble, which is premiered at the IAJE Annual Conference.

The IAJE/ASCAP Commission. This program annually provides a $7,500 commission to an established jazz composer, and a $3,000 commission to an emerging jazz composer. Both works are premiered at the IAJE Annual Conference.

The SOCAN/IAJE Phil Nimmons Established Composer Award. The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) and IAJE showcase the compositional talents of selected established Canadian composers each year at the IAJE conference. The award is named in honor of Canada's noted jazz artist and composer, Phil Nimmons, and is made possible with funding support from SOCAN, IAJE, the Canada Arts Council, and Harris Steel.
Clifford Brown/Stan Getz Fellowships
IAJE, together with the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts and the Herb Alpert Jazz Endowment, awards five outstanding high-school jazz students the annual Clifford Brown/Stan Getz Fellowship. They also receive an all-expenses-paid NFAA week of master classes in Miami, and eligibility for selection as a Presidential Arts Scholar.
North Sea Jazz Festival

Since 1999, IAJE has sponsored a stage during the festival, featuring artists in educational workshops and panel sessions. IAJE also selects approximately 12 school groups to perform at the festival each year.
Scholarship Programs
